Session 1: Generation III+ Reactor Technologies
Room: NPE
14:00 – 15:30
The opening session examines the latest commercially available nuclear reactors, widely known as ‘Generation III+’ technology. These reactors feature improved fuel technology, thermal efficiency, longer lifetimes, passive safety systems and standardized design for reduced maintenance and capital costs. The session features three reactors widely expected to comprise the European nuclear renaissance: Areva’s European Pressurized Reactor/Evolutionary Power Reactor (EPR), Westinghouse’s AP-1000 and GE Hitachi’s Economic Simplified Boiling Water Reactor (ESBWR).
